A drop ceiling is a secondary ceiling that hangs below an current ceiling. We have original stone walls in our basement that are good and never want to cover them, if we did it would be with more stone (immediately after some fantastic insulation) and not dry-wall, so a dry-wall ceiling would: 1. appear out of place, and two. possibly not have something to anchor to correctly or tidily about the edges, that does not mean we want the rafters -complete of wires and pipes- exposed.
