It is absolutely true that unlike remote access in the case of VPNs, end-node devices that use site-to-site VPNs do not need VPN clients because the gateway takes care of the connection. It is impeccable to emphasize that in most cases, site-to-site VPNs that connect over the internet use IPsec and they mostly use carrier MPLs clouds.
VPNs can also be used between specific computers such as servers in separate data centres. In most instances this happens when the security needs of the exchanges are beyond what the enterprise network can deliver. It is incredible to highlight that there has been an increase in the use of VPN connections in either remote access or site-to-site modes to connect to resources in a public infrastructure environment.
